What’s up with the “enshittification” stuff?

“Enshittification” is a term coined by the writer Cory Doctorow in his essay.

The basic idea is that websites prioritize growth at first, so they prioritize their users' needs and interests. Then websites look to monetize their traffic by deprioritizing users and instead catering to advertisers. Then they try to boost profits by squeezing their advertisers, further worsening the quality of the site.

It's a great essay and you should read it. This site is just my doofy riff on Doctorow's idea.
